Running Together for the University

Compete on behalf of Chemnitz University of Technology at the WiC Company Run on 4 September 2019 – Registration is open until 24 August – TUC running shirts will be available after 26 August

It is once again time for Chemnitz businesses to get sporty – the WiC Company Run will take place for the 14th time, on 4 September 2019 at 18:00. High-level athletic performance, endurance and team spirit will be once again in demand. As in previous years, running enthusiasts from Chemnitz University of Technology have the possibility to line up at the starting line. The running event is organised by the Berlin agency “Die Sportmacher”, which was founded in 2005 by former students of Chemnitz University of Technology.

The start and finish line of the approximately 4.8km course is located on Richard-Hartmann-Platz, as in previous years. In order to accommodate the increasing number of participants, there will be two starting waves, with one taking place at 18:00 and one at 18:30. Special attention will be given to top runners in categories such as most creative company, most sportsmanlike company, fastest boss, secretary or apprentice, and fastest women’s, men’s and mixed teams.

All students, apprentices, alumni, friends, supporters and employees of Chemnitz University of Technology are invited to run, either in teams or alone, on behalf of the university. Now is your opportunity to shine and show off your skills – whether particularly fast, creatively dressed or in a large or unique team. From 2008 to 2011, the university was able to win the award for “Most Sportsmanlike Company” – but in recent years, the award has gone to the Chemnitz Hospital. Now is the time to recapture the title. The athletes will be taken care of at the event – refreshing drinks will be available, and bags can be dropped off and picked up again on-site.

Registration for the event is available online until 24 August 2019. Participation in the event costs 17 euros per person. Runners who participate while wearing the official TUC running shirt will receive a refund of their entry fees, in connection with the new “Public Service Appreciation in the Free State of Saxony” initiative. The TUC running shirts are provided free of charge by Techniker Krankenkasse, while supplies last. Running shirts will be handed out on 26 August and entry fees will be refunded upon presentation of registration confirmation, at Event Management and Merchandising, Straße der Nation 62, Room 119A.
