Celebrating in Cap and Gown

The next Graduation Celebration Event of Chemnitz University will take place on June 2nd, 2018 – Registration is open until May, 13th, 2018

Anyone who successfully completed their degree program or doctorate at Chemnitz University of Technology in the winter semester 2017/2018 will have the chance to reflect on this occasion on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018. On this day, the annual Graduation Celebration Event will take place. All registered graduates will experience an unforgettable day with their families and friends in the St. Petri Church from 2 p.m. till 4 p.m. Entry starts at 12.30 p.m.

Following the welcoming speech of the University President Prof. Gerd Strohmeier and greetings from Sören Uhle, managing director of the Chemnitz Wirtschaftsförderungs- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH, the program centers around the honoring of all graduates. Furthermore, the Chemnitz Commerzbank AG will award two dissertation prizes. Musical accompaniment is provided by the Collegium musicum orchestra. Poetry slammer Erik Leichter will also perform at the event. At the end of the Celebration Event all graduates will come together for the traditional group photo with the University President. Anyone interested can wind down the rest of the ceremonial day at the “TUCSommernacht” event.

Registration for the Graduation Event is open until May 13th, 2018, at https://www.tu-chemnitz.de/tu/veranstaltungen/graduiertenfeier/anmeldung.php. It is possible for all graduates to borrow a cap and gown for the ceremony for a fee. Participation in the festivities is free of charge for all graduates. Accompanying persons pay a contribution of 10 euros to share the cost of the event.
Individual pictures of the graduates with friends and family can be taken by a professional photographer to have wonderful memories of this special day. Graduates receive special conditions and can make use of the photography offer in the “Altes Heizhaus” in the courtyard of the university site Straße der Nationen 62.
