Accommodation on campus for flat rate prices
Studentenwerk Chemnitz-Zwickau offers available rooms in dormitories for the winter semester 2017/18
The beginning of the new winter semester 2017/18 is approaching and some students still don’t know where to live. A cheap flat rate option are the ten dormitories of the Studentenwerk Chemnitz-Zwickau with approx. 2,100 rooms available in Chemnitz alone. This means, no additional costs for power, water, heating, internet, and TV access. Not even furniture is needed as the rooms are fully furnished. Rent is between 169,50 euros and 269,50 euros per month, depending on size and furnishing of the room. The janitor on-site, rooms with washing machines and dryers, and leisure facilities are only some of the advantages.
Although the official application period for the winter semester has already expired, there are still rooms available especially in the dormitories Vetterstraße 66 and Reichenhainer 51. Occasionally, flat-sharing rooms are also free. “Anyone interested should get in touch with our customer advisors as soon as possible – preferably via email”, says Anja Schönherr, director of the Studentenwerk. “The chances are still good as not everyone who applied and got a room offered from us will eventually sign the contract.”
The Studentenwerk is constantly investing in home comfort. Aside from modernizing plans for a dormitory in 2018, a kindergarten is currently built on the campus in the Reichenhainer Straße. “We strive to constantly improve and develop our service and to adjust our offers to the needs of the students”, says Dirk Päßler, department manager Wohnen/Technik from the Studentenwerk. In general, the Chemnitz dormitories are only single rooms with shared bathroom and kitchen with one or more fellow roommates. This offers the possibility to retreat to a private space but still provides many opportunities to get in touch with roommates from all over the world.
