Study Advertising Campaign TUCdiscover Honored with Digital Award

In the competition of the Bundesverband Hochschulkommunikation for the awarding of innovative projects in digital communication, the study advertising campaign of Chemnitz University of Technology stood out against about 40 projects and achieved 3rd place

On September 6, 2023, the project "TUCdiscover – Discover Your Opportunities at the Chemnitz University of Technology" was awarded during a ceremony at the annual conference of the Bundesverband Hochschulkommunikation in Magdeburg. The information and advertising campaign TUCdiscover of Chemnitz University of Technology (TUC), which conveys the advantages of the Chemnitz study location through modern communication channels and a very personal as well as individual approach to prospective students, received 3rd place. The award was accepted by project coordinator Susann Kappler and student ambassador Angelina Wettinger from TUC.

"The award shows that we are also keeping up with the times in study advertising. I thank all participants for their creativity and their outstanding commitment," says Prof. Dr. Maximilian Eibl, Vice President for Academic and International Affairs at TUC.

"Our overall strategy of addressing young people proactively and at eye level through ambassadors and content that relates to their everyday lives and their questions about starting their studies is what makes our project special. The fact that our work is rewarded not only by the good results in the evaluation of the measures, but now also by this award, makes me very happy," says Susann Kappler from the TUCdiscover project.

Initially, the project had stood out against about 40 other submissions and made it to the shortlist with eleven other outstanding projects. The specialist jury, which consisted of experts from the fields of public relations (ressourcenmangel an der panke GmbH, Zucker. Kommunikation), journalism (ZEIT Online), and university communication, ultimately found the TUC's study advertising campaign to be worthy of the award.

Laura Schlotthauer, Managing Director of ressourcenmangel an der panke GmbH, presented the winning projects at the awards ceremony. She praised the TUCdiscover project as an example of how to openly deal with perceived locational disadvantages through a consistent, personal approach to the target group using authentic ambassadors, a high-quality presentation, innovative formats and channels, and a professionally executed social media campaign.
