Welcome to the TUC Family!

Chemnitz University of Technology welcomes all new students to the European Capital of Culture 2025 on October 11, 2022 during the matriculation and commencement ceremony – Registration is requested by October 10

For the start of the winter semester 2022/2023, Chemnitz University of Technology invites you to the matriculation and commencement ceremony on October 11, 2022. The invitation is aimed in particular at all first-semester students. The ceremony begins at 5:00 p.m. in the Richard Hartmann Hall, Fabrikstraße 9. Admission opens at 3:30 p.m. After the welcome by the president Prof. Dr. Gerd Strohmeier, a wide-ranging program awaits the guests of the celebration: In addition to welcoming greetings, including those from the Student Council of Chemnitz University of Technology, TUC ambassadors from the new TUCdiscover campaign will address the audience. Additionally, students who have started their studies at Chemnitz University of Technology in the winter semester will talk about their start in the European Capital of Culture 2025 in an interview.

A sporty touch will be added by world championship and European championship medal winner Rebekka Haase, who studies psychology at Chemnitz Technical University and was extremely successful this year with the German women's sprint relay team over 4x100 meters in Munich and in Eugene (USA). The university orchestra Collegium musicum of Chemnitz University of Technology, the university choir and the TU Big Band will provide the cultural framework for the celebration.

Welcome gift for first-timers

As usual, there is a welcome gift for the new students this year - consisting of a TUC bag in university design with numerous goodies, vouchers as well as a TUC shirt. The bag can be picked up in the days following the matriculation and commencement ceremony at the Unishop in the Central Lecture Hall and Seminar Building of the Chemnitz University of Technology on the Reichenhainer Straße campus starting on October 25.
