Assessment test ("Feststellungsprüfung")

In the case that your foreign high school diploma is not equivalent to the German high school diploma, before the beginning of your university studies you have to complete a prepraratory course for university studies ("Studienkolleg") in Germany to pass an assessment test ("Feststellungsprüfung – FSP") in the end. In a Studienkolleg you will be prepared for studying at a German university. The preparatory year ends with the FSP, which, in combination with your foreign school diploma, entitles you to study in Germany.

Please check the website of the information portal for foreign educational qualifications "anabin" by yourself if you have to attend a Studienkolleg with your foreign high school diploma.

At TU Chemnitz, it is not possible to take the FSP. Applicants are referred to a Studienkolleg designated for TU Chemnitz. International applicants who need to take the assessment test can do so at Studienkolleg Sachsen in Leipzig. The Studienkolleg provides targeted preparation for the exam and offers various specialized courses tailored to the requirements of different degree programs. Students who want to get an admission to Studienkolleg need to show a copy of German language certificate of status B1 (e.g. DSH-1, TestDaF 3/3/3/3, Goethe-Institut B1 etc.). For admission to the Studienkolleg we also accept language proofs of private institutions.
