Tim Bergelt completed his master's degree in mechanical engineering in 2020 and started working as a research assistant in the Department of Metallic Materials and Material Fatigue. His work primarily focuses on modelling and characterising thermal and mechanical properties as well as microstructure developments of steel materials.
His research fields include the following topics:
- Microstructure characterisation of steel materials
- Determination of mechanical and thermophysical properties
- Investigation of scaling on steel materials
- Modelling and simulation of material properties and heat treatment strategies
