Future vision for human-centred, intelligent manufacturing 2035 at the FutureSAX Innovation Forum „Mensch – Maschine – Mittelstand“ presented

On 27 March 2025, around 110 stakeholders from the worlds of science and business will be discussing the futureSAX-Innovationsforum „Mensch – Maschine – Mittelstand“ how Industry 5.0 can make Saxony's SMEs fit for the future. Following the welcome and opening of the event by the hosts from Mittweida University of Applied Sciences and the initiators of FutureSAX, Dr habil. Franziska Bocklisch explained in her keynote speech how industrial manufacturing is changing.

In addition to the current challenges posed by the global transformation towards greater sustainability and digitalisation, a focus was placed on the human perspective. The buzzword „human-centricity“ was complemented by concrete ways of connecting people and technology in the future, clear approaches to human-centric digitalisation – including the Model „Human CoMo“ – as well as an example of coating technology. It was also emphasised that a successful culture of innovation in the area of „man – machine – SMEs“ can only be achieved through transdisciplinary work and constructive cooperation along the entire value chain. To achieve this, basic university research, applied non-university research, industrial development and the transfer of solutions to SMEs and large-scale industry must be closely interlinked. This is a lived practice at the Chair of WOT, as Dr Bocklisch heads a research group in the department of „People in production “ at the Fraunhofer IWU in Chemnitz. The rest of the event picked up on the keynote topics again and again. For example, the discussion panel „Saxony's industry in transition – Mastering challenges, utilising opportunities " representatives from politics, science and business with the current situation and future prospects of Saxon industry. In the three themed workshops „ Technology innovations“, „human-technology interaction“ and „resource efficiency & sustainability“ participants were able to find out about the latest scientific findings and developments in research. In addition to the technical content, the Innovation Forum offered opportunities for networking in the exhibitor area. Solution providers, cluster representatives and research institutes presented themselves here.
