WOT start-up at the futureSAX innovation conference

CMMC GmbH, a start-up spin-off from the Chair of Materials and Surface Technology, successfully presented itself at the innovation conference of futureSAX, the innovation platform of the Free State of Saxony, on 23 June 2022. The State Minister for Economic Affairs, Labour and Transport of the Free State of Saxony, Martin Dulig, also took the opportunity to find out more about innovative lightweight materials, the patented process and the wide range of customer applications.

CMMC GmbH develops structural materials from metal matrix composites of different compositions. Initially, the focus is on the material with the highest application potential - particle-reinforced aluminium alloys, or AMC for short. CMMC utilises a new type of manufacturing process that enables AMC materials to be continuously produced by casting on a production-relevant scale. This not only opens up access to energy savings in the use of materials, but also to energy and cost savings in AMC material production compared to competing AMC production processes such as stir casting or sintering. The aim of the WOT spin-off is to bring AMC materials out of their niche existence and into widespread use.
