Description
In this course selected basics in continuum mechanics of solids and the finite element method for solving nonlinear problems are introduced.
Contents
- Nonlinear and inelastic material behavior (nonlinear elasticity, viscoelasticity, plasticity, viscoplasticity)
- Geometric nonlinearity (formulations, kinematics, strain and stress tensors)
- Solution of nonlinear FE equations (consistent linearization)
- Explicit FEM, integration of the equations of motion
- Iterative solution of nonlinear problems involving contact
