Description

In this course selected basics in continuum mechanics of solids and the finite element method for solving nonlinear problems are introduced.

Contents

  • Nonlinear and inelastic material behavior (nonlinear elasticity, viscoelasticity, plasticity, viscoplasticity)
  • Geometric nonlinearity (formulations, kinematics, strain and stress tensors)
  • Solution of nonlinear FE equations (consistent linearization)
  • Explicit FEM, integration of the equations of motion
  • Iterative solution of nonlinear problems involving contact

Requirements

  • Engineering mechanics
  • Continuum mechanics
  • FEM I
  • Valid user account in the computing center (URZ)
