Cooperations & Networking

MeTech
MeTech
Technology is a cultural achievement—developed by people, for people. It serves a wide range of purposes, whether for individual goals, collective organizational objectives, or for interpersonal communication and exploring the world. Technology is closely intertwined with human society, influences it, and continually transforms our world.
Chemnitz University of Technology is distinguished by its strong core competence in Human and Technology. Through the interdisciplinary research center Human and Technology, we examine the central and forward-looking role of the human factor in interaction with technological systems. The center brings together expertise from various disciplines and fosters interdisciplinary exchange.
We support our members and research partners in developing innovative project ideas and translating them into research proposals. Our goal is to increase the success rate in acquiring third-party funding and to foster long-term research collaborations. In addition, we are happy to assist with administrative tasks—so you can focus more on your core activities in research and teaching.

CHIM
CHIM - Research network Chemnitz-Ilmenau-Magdeburg

The tri-university network strengthens cooperation between the three locations in Chemnitz, Ilmenau, and Magdeburg, enabling cross-university collaboration in research and teaching.
Collaborative Research
-
Research projects involving two or three CHIM universities, including those funded by BMBF or DFG
-
Associated joint publications as well as independent publications stemming from these projects
-
Long-standing cooperation, primarily in the field of Human & Technology
-
Strengthening infrastructure, for example by establishing open labs that enable joint investigations for all CHIM members at a single site
Driving Innovation
-
Future-oriented projects, jointly organized events, and participation in conferences addressing topics that revolutionize the future of Human & Technology, including joint teaching initiatives such as lecture series
-
In addition to research and teaching, the development of common higher education policy positions and goals will also be a future focus

Symposium: Productive Teaming
Current technological developments enable highly complex, intelligent, adaptive, and autonomous cyber-technical systems that can support, complement, and even surpass human cognitive abilities and skills in solving the new challenges of tomorrow. This continuous advancement of increasingly powerful and intelligent technologies is currently leading to new and complex challenges in dynamic production systems that must be addressed quickly and decisively.
A central future challenge in the field of production systems will be solving highly complex problems with countless parameters that exceed the capacities of conventional human teams by far. To address these problems and increase productivity, it is therefore essential to form teams composed of humans and production systems specialized in such “teaming” between humans and production systems.
“Productive Teaming” is a joint research initiative of TU Chemnitz, TU Ilmenau, and OVGU Magdeburg, which has emerged from the existing CHIM research and innovation network. The goal of this initiative is to leverage cross-cutting topics to better understand teaming between human and artificial agents and to answer research questions such as: Can intelligent systems be cognitively enhanced to the extent that they are able to utilize their team partner’s capabilities in this process and dynamically anticipate their needs
