Research Oriented Equality Standards of the DFG

The concept of “Research Oriented Equality Standards” was presented during the members’ assembly of the DFG in July 2008. This concept was developed by an expert commission which was installed by the Presidium of the DFG and aimed to reach and sustain the equality of men and women in research and to give further effective impulses on the matter. The concept differentiated between personnel and structural equality standards. Within the frame of personnel equality standards, every member institution was asked to set goals to increase the presence of women on different levels of the scientific qualification process. Every institution has the possibility to set, with consideration of its specific structural particularities, in what extent the share of female scientists should be increased. In the spring of 2009, the member institutions submitted their statements to the DFG and formulated equality concepts that incorporated concrete aims. In doing so, single elements of the research oriented equality standards were able to be referred to.

As a member of the DFG, the TU Chemnitz has obliged itself to further strive for the increase of women on different levels of scientific qualification processes with the consideration of specific framework conditions of a university of technology and its faculties.
