DEKOR-X - Dezentraler Kommunikationsraum Kreuzung
Urban intersections are among the most challenging areas in road traffic. They are characterized by high complexity, diverse traffic flows, and often limited visibility—even for experienced road users. As transportation becomes increasingly automated, these challenges are also becoming significant for technical systems.
This is where the DEKOR-X project comes in:
Its goal is to reduce the risks associated with intersections through the use of decentralized communication. Intelligent, automated vehicles share data from their onboard sensors with one another. This continuous exchange of information creates a more comprehensive picture of the current traffic situation, significantly enhancing safety—both for the vehicles and their occupants as well as for vulnerable and non-connected road users, who are detected by various sensor systems.
The overarching objective:
To generate a highly detailed, real-time environmental model that enables automated and autonomous vehicles to safely and efficiently navigate even complex urban intersection scenarios.
