Professional field projects and seminars

The teaching-learning offer "professional field project" and "professional field seminar" is primarily available to students of the bachelor's degree courses in economics, industrial engineering and European studies. Within a six-month project or seminar, students are given the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired in communication contexts and combine them with job-specific skills. In addition, we aim to provide tangible project experience with the teaching and learning offer. There is a special focus on projects that are carried out in cooperation with partners from industry, services or public institutions.

Currently

  • SS 2024 Professional Field Seminar (BFS) on "Sustainable frugal innovation with Design Thinking and Lego Serious Play" (B.S. Wirtschaftswissenschaften)

In this seminar we will use Design Thinking and Lego Serious Play to develop a sustainable frugal innovation for a self-chosen social problem. The learning objectives are on a content level to get to know and understand sustainability (with topics like sustainable dimensions and circular economy) and a sustainable frugal innovation process (with emphasize on frugal innovation criteria). The learning objectives are on a methodological level to get to know and apply the methods of Design Thinking and Lego Serious Play for innovation. There will be approximately six units lasting between 1.5 and 3 hours. The seminar will be held in English.

  • WS 2023/24 Professional field project (BFP) and professional field case study (BFF) on Knowledge Management: Human Resource Development, Competence and Knowledge Management (B.S. Wirtschaftswissenschaften; B.S. Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen)

The aim of the professional field project (BFP) and professional field case study (BFF) is to earn new knowledge about current topics, applications and research results in knowledge and competence management and human resource development. The BFP/BFF focuses on the interplay of knowledge management and human resource management by providing scientific contributions to solve concrete practical problems and exploring roles and functions to support organizational goals.

The focus of the professional field project (BFP) and the professional field case study (BFF) is on applications and implementations. Thus, there is the possibility to look at knowledge management and processes in organisations, e.g. to compare digital and management tools or to present tools and to show their advantages, disadvantages or application. It is also conceivable to anticipate the requirements and challenges of knowledge management in organisations in the coming years in the direction of future research.

Every student has to present including discussion and to write a term paper. The language of instruction is English.
