A research visit in a laboratory in India, the attendance at an international conference in Toronto or a one-month insight visit at the university in Chemnitz - Technische Universität Chemnitz supports the mobility of young scientists with a new project. InProTUC – short for International Promovieren an der TU Chemnitz – offers young international researchers the opportunity to spend up to three month at TU Chemnitz to conduct research and to get to know the facilities of the university during a month-long insight visit. Furthermore, doctoral candidates of TU Chemnitz will get the opportunity to participate in a conference or a research visit abroad. Starting now, doctoral candidates can apply for funding of visits that take place between 1st June and 31st December 2015.

The project was already launched in November 2014 in order to foster the internationalisation of TU Chemnitz and to adequately support young scientists. InProTUC is promoted by the German Academic Exchange Service and funded by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). Prof. Dr. Heinrich Lang, Vice-Rector for Research and Young Scientists and director of the Centre for Young Scientists stated: “With this project Technische Universität Chemnitz takes a major step not only in supporting young scientists but also towards the implementation of the internationalisation strategy of the university.”

In 2014 the programme was already opened to doctoral candidates of TU Chemnitz. Eight doctoral candidates of the faculties for Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, Computer Science, Economics and Business Administration and the faculty of Humanities benefited from the project.

In order to receive funding in the current eligibility period applications need to be submitted on or before 11th May 2015.
