Full Speed Ahead

T.U.C. Racing Team successfully qualifies for several events – Chemnitz Team as one of only two teams from Saxony to participate on the Hockenheim ring.

In February, after weeks of preparations, the members of the T.U.C. Racing e.V. were able to qualify for several racing events in the Formula Student. Together with the team of TU Dresden the student team of Chemnitz University were the only Saxon teams to qualify for the student racing event on the Hockenheim ring. A total of 900 teams applied, 60 qualified for the race.

The online-based qualification tests required the teams to simultaneously answer several questions regarding the fields of “engineering”, “economy”, and “regulations”. In that regard, not only the right answers but also the required time played a significant role. “We are happy that with the concentrated focus of the whole team, we were able to win the admission to the Formula Student Netherlands, Formula Student Czech Republic (FSC), and the Formula Student Germany (FSG), which is one of the most important events in Europe”, says Jan Wiesner, head of the T.U.C. Racing Team. Dean of the Department for Mechanical Engineering at Chemnitz University, Prof. Thomas Lampke, is happy about the success of the team: “The department provides active support for the commitment of students, who gain significant knowledge in the implementation of study contents and become ambassadors for Chemnitz University and Mechanical Engineering. We are delighted about the success of our team”, emphasizes the dean. The Chemnitz team now starts an eventful racing season with focus on the FSC in Most (Czech Republic) and the FSG in Hockenheim.
