Great honor for a Chemnitz economist

Prof. Uwe Götze was awarded the title of “Professor Honoris Causa” (honorary professor) at the Babeş-Bolyai -University in Romania

The Chemnitz partner university Babeş-Bolyai in Cluj-Napoca (Klausenburg) awarded Prof. Uwe Götze, Head of the Professorship of Management Accounting and Controlling as well as Vice President for Transfer and Academic Qualification at the Chemnitz University of Technology, the title of “Professor Honoris Causa” on May 27, 2017. At the ceremonial event the Vice President of the Rumanian University, Prof. Rudolf Gräf, as well as the dean of the Department Economics and Management tutor Răzvan Mustață, acknowledged the works of Prof. Uwe Götze. The laudation was held by the Vice Dean and the person responsible for German study institutions, Prof. Mihaela Dragan. She emphasized aside from Prof. Götze’s scientific achievements also his outstanding commitment for the local Department, which includes presentations as a key note speaker at the annual “Managerial challenges of the contemporary society” conference and in lectures, the support of doctoral projects, the envisaged building of a PhD school, and his intensive contribution in teaching especially in the field of quality management and quality cost accounting. In this context she quoted a master students who was impressed by his teaching methods.

“This title honors me as it represents a terrific acknowledgement of my long-lasting work and is a sign of solidarity”, says Götze. Following the ceremonial events, he reflected in the presentation “Management Accounting and Control (Research) in the Course of Time – Experiences and Perspectives” on the development of his subject and presented current research results. Götze, who is in close contact with the Babeş-Bolyai-University since 2008 and is a regular guest lecturer, will continue the cooperation. “The cooperation is also dear to my heart due to the personal relations evolving from it, and I hope to be able to further develop it with regard to research including the doctoral supervision”, adds Götze. By the way: a cooperation contract between the Chemnitz University and the Babeş-Bolyai-University exists since 1997.
