A Celebration in Cap and Gown

The next Graduation Celebration Event will take place on May 20th, 2017, in the course of the “Tag der Universität” – Registration is open until May, 5th, 2017

Anyone who successfully completed their degree program or doctorate at the Chemnitz University of Technology in the 2016 summer semester or 2016/2017 winter semester will have the chance to reflect on this occasion on Saturday, May 20, 2017. On this day, the annual Graduation Celebration Event will take place in the framework of the “Tag der Universität”. All registered graduates will experience an unforgettable day with their families and friends in the St. Petri Church from 2 p.m. till 4 p.m. Entry starts at 12.30 p.m.

Following the welcoming speech of the University President Prof. Gerd Strohmeier, the program centers around the honoring of all graduates. Graduate Axel Dittes, student from 2011 till 2017 at the Chemnitz University of Technology in the course of studies Mechanical Engineering and now research assistant at the Institute of Materials and Surface Engineering, will give an exemplary presentation of his study time. The musical accompaniment is provided by the Collegium Musicum orchestra. At the end of the Celebration Event all graduates will come together for the traditional group photo with the University President with subsequent champagne reception.

Registration for the Event is open until May 5th, 2017, at It is possible for all graduates to borrow a cap and gown for the ceremony for a fee. Participation in the festivities is free of charge for all graduates. Accompanying persons may participate with a contribution of 10 euros toward the cost of the event. Rental fees for caps and gowns can be reduced from 25 to 10 euros through a sponsoring option during the online registration offered through the university.
