Career Service: New semester program supports career entry

The Career Service of Chemnitz University of Technology starts winter semester with new offers for successful career entry and hybrid TUCconnect - registration now possible.

How can I best design my profile on career networks such as LinkedIn and Xing and how will I be found by companies there?  What makes a good application photo? What information should I include in my resume and how does a cover letter differ from a motivation letter? What is a realistic salary for an application and what should be considered in salary negotiations? These and other questions arise at the latest on the home stretch of your studies. The Career Service of Chemnitz University of Technology helps to find the answers - among other things with workshops, information events and counseling appointments.

The new semester program is available online. Registration for all events is also possible via this website. As usual, all offers can be used free of charge by students and graduates of Chemnitz University of Technology.

As in previous years, the new semester program offers students and graduates of all disciplines an extensive selection of events. Also and specially to prepare early for the application phase and career entry. "We have workshops on offer that help with the use of software or offer additional personal qualifications. These include the workshops 'Excel - Basics for the job', 'Presentation training compact' or 'Successful leadership: Leadership behavior and leadership tools', says Julia Werner, an employee at Career Service. Hybrid career fair and career information day attract visitors with a direct line to companies and graduates

A special highlight this semester is the "TUCconnect hybrid" The recruiting event will take place from 11th to 25th November, 2021. "In order to be as little inferior as possible to a real career fair in terms of exchange opportunities, we are once again relying on the interactive app "Talentefinder" for the implementation. This works like conventional dating apps - except that instead of a romantic date, all participants can get to know exciting companies, says André Claren, an employee at Career Service. Starting November 11, students can register with "Talentefinder," and the interviews arranged with participating companies will take place either on November 25 in the Central Lecture Hall Building or virtually.

Another exciting event is the online career information day "STUDI meets PRAXIS | Humanities and Social Sciences" on December 1, 2021. During panel discussions, graduates will provide insights into their career entry, their current work routine, and professional opportunities in Saxony. Students also have the opportunity to get in touch with regional companies that are explicitly looking for applicants from their fields. Three short workshops on a wide range of topics round off the afternoon's offerings.
