About Prof. Dr. Torsten Heinrich

PD Dr. Torsten Heinrich will take over the professorship of Microeconomics at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Chemnitz University of Technology starting 1 October 2020. His last postdoctoral position was at the University of Oxford.

Torsten Heinrich studied economics at the TU Dresden. He then moved to the University of Bremen as a research assistant. In 2011 he successfully completed his doctorate on "Technological Change, Network Effects, and Emergent Properties in Growth Regimes" with the grade summa cum laude.

This was followed by his habilitation on "The Potential of Evolutionary Modeling in Economics," also in Bremen, before he moved to Oxford in 2016.

Torsten Heinrich researches questions of competition and innovation economics from the perspective of the theory of complex systems. He makes methodological contributions to game theory, evolutionary economics, and computational economics. His teaching of microeconomics, competition, and innovation economics is complemented by methodological in-depth studies and current research questions.

About Prof. Dr. Matthias Wichmann

PD Dr. Matthias Wichmann has held the Professorship Business Administration in Production Management at the Faculty of Economics at Chemnitz University of Technology since 1 October 2020. Prior to this, he represented the professorship for general business administration, in particular raw materials management, at the TU Bergakademie Freiberg for one year.

Matthias Wichmann studied Business Informatics at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. He then moved to the TU Braunschweig as a research assistant. In 2013 he completed his doctorate on "Order-based allocation planning of continuous casting plants in the steel producing industry" with the overall grade summa cum laude. This was followed by his habilitation on the subject of "Energy- and Resource-oriented Management of Industrial Production Systems,” also in Braunschweig. In February 2020, Matthias Wichmann successfully completed the habilitation procedure.

In the future, Wichmann will focus on business management issues in the design and use of production and logistics systems against the background of the energy turnaround and digitalization. Both developments pose great challenges for society. Wichmann would like to make a methodical and content-related contribution with approaches of operations research, especially simulation and optimization, in order to derive application-oriented recommendations for action for politics and companies.

About Jun.-Prof. Dr. Jennifer Schluer

Dr. Jennifer Schluer has held the junior professorship of TESOL/Advanced Academic English at the Faculty of Humanities at Chemnitz University of Technology since 1 October 2020. Prior to this, she represented the professorship of Specialized Didactics of English at the University of Osnabrück.

Within the broad field of foreign language didactics as well as cultural research, her teaching and research focus at Chemnitz University of Technology will be on digital teaching and learning. Building on her previous experience, junior professor Dr. Jennifer Schluer will dedicate herself to the research of feedback videos. "Feedback competencies are of immense importance for prospective teachers - because without adequate feedback, learners will not know what learning successes they have already achieved and what they can do to further develop their English skills," says Schluer.

Jennifer Schluer studied linguistics and communication science as well as adult education at the University of Siegen. She then moved to the University of Kassel as a research assistant. She completed her doctorate in 2016 on "Lexical and conceptual awareness in L2 reading: An exploratory study" with the overall grade summa cum laude.
