On 1 June 2020, Prof. Dr. Nina Katrin Hansen was appointed as Chair of Human Resource Management and Leadership Studies in the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Chemnitz University of Technology. Due to the current situation at the university, the ceremonial appointment by the President, Prof. Dr. Gerd Strohmeier, will be made at a later point in time.

In the future, Hansen will devote her studies particularly to topics such as strategic human resource management, modern HRM systems and new forms of leadership in the digital age. Based on a multi–level approach, her research focuses on the question of how HRM systems influence intellectual capital architectures, organizational capabilities and firm performance especially in the field of Professional Service Firms (PSFs) such as law firms and management consultancies. In a current research project, the motivational effects of new career and leadership models are analyzed in the context of creative agencies. "The current situation highlights the relevance of dealing with questions related to the 'Future of Work'. I am therefore looking forward to exploring how companies in the Free State of Saxony and especially in the Chemnitz region are dealing with the current HRM challenges in order to successfully master them", says Hansen.
