Business Information Systems at Chemnitz University of Technology Remains at the Top

For the sixth time in a row, the Business Information Systems program is in the top ten in the WirtschaftsWoche university ranking - high appreciation of practical experience for graduates

There are more than 420 universities in Germany. But which universities and universities of applied sciences train students best for practical work? For the current university ranking from WirtschaftsWoche (issue 17/2020), 590 human resources managers took part in the survey by the consulting firm Universum and chose their favourites. Chemnitz University of Technology once again made it into the top ten universities in one of the business-related subjects examined.

"Chemnitz Business Information Systems has improved one place in the ranking compared to the previous year and is now in 9th place, making it one of the top ten universities in Germany for the sixth time in a row," says Prof. Dr. Peter Gluchowski, Dean of Studies for the Bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems (german) and the Master's programs in Customer Relationship Management, Value Chain Management and Business Intelligence and Analytics. This emphasizes the fact that Chemnitz University of Technology prepares its graduates very well for the transition from study to professional life and that this is also appreciated by the personnel managers. His colleague, Prof. Dr. Barbara Dinter, added: "We are currently experiencing how fundamentally digitalization is changing all our lives. The Business Information Systems course provides the skills to help shape this digital transformation in companies and in society. Our students learn about innovative technologies such as Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and the Internet of Things, as well as the basics of business information technology and its application in business practice.” Prof. Dr. Michael Hinz, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, sees the close cooperation of Chemnitz Business Information Systems with regional and supra-regional companies and, last but not least, the often resulting cooperative degree theses as further reasons for the appreciation of the graduates.

Currently, 77 students are enrolled at Chemnitz University of Technology in the bachelor's degree course in Business Information Systems and 214 students in the three master's degree courses in Customer Relationship Management, Value Chain Management and Business Intelligence & Analytics.
