Optoelectronics: LEDs, laser diodes and solar cells

  Research topics [Applications]

The research field of "optoelectronics" deals with the conversion of light into electricity (solar cells) and the other way around (LEDs, laser diodes). LEDs have become well established as a light sources in almost all kinf of applications, e.g. lighting, consumer electronics, sensors and automotive industry. Solar cells are an essential part of renewable energy conversion. The experimental and theoretical approaches are combined in our research, thereby the optical spectroscopy methods, which combine high spectral, spatial and temporal resolution, play a central role. The goal is to gain information about the dynamics, quantum efficiency and efficiency of optoelectronic devices. In this way, the interpretation of the experimental results and the theoretical modeling go hand in hand.

The following scientific groups are working in the field of optoelectronics.
