BA-Minor Digital Humanities and Semiotics of Culture

In the 2026/27 winter term, TU Chemnitz will launch the BA minor "Digital Humanities und Kultursemiotik."

As Junior Professor of Digital Humanities, I am responsible for the digital humanities components of this minor. The digital humanities combine humanistic and cultural-studies curiosity with computational methods. The minor offers you an introduction to the digital humanities, along with courses on critical data analysis and digital publishing, and above all an engagement with generative artificial intelligence.

The following questions are central to the programme:

• What role do AI systems actually play in the humanities?

• How can I use digital methods to address my research questions?

• What exactly are data visualisations, and how do I create them?

• What can data tell us about people, ideas, and societies?

• What do we mean by digital forms of publication?

Teaching

The courses are open to all interested students of Chemnitz University of Technology and can be credited as examination achievements as part of the Studium generale from the summer semester 2024.
