Brake Inertia Dynamometer

Brake Inertia Dynamometer

Description

Flywheel brake test rig with climate chamber and wheel load simulation unit

Test objects:

  • Disc brakes
  • Drum brakes
  • Quarter, half and complete axle systems incl. complete wheel
  • Friction materials, friction linings
  • calipers

Testing options:

  • Standard test programs according to SAE J2522, AK Master, AMS-Fade etc.
  • NVH behavior according to SAE J2521
  • Limit load and cracking behavior of brake discs and brake components
  • Wet and fog testing
  • Residual grinding torque determination and parking brake testing
  • Dynamic wheel load distribution
  • Cornering (high lateral forces - Hockenheimring or Nürburgring)
  • Vibration and surface condition of the road (slab joints, track crossing, cobblestones) and roughness of the road surface
  • Special events such as deep potholes, high road shoulder

Test specimen adaptations (examples):

  • Performance Standard
  • Performance steering knuckle assembly
  • NVH with suspension strut
  • NVH with quarter axle and complete wheel
  • NVH with complete axle

Measuring systems:

  • STAC smoke/NVH EventScan measuring system
  • Measuring system for volume measurement of the brake calliper
  • μ-Epsilon DTV measuring system for geometric brake disk properties
  • Non-contact temperature measuring device, Pyrometer
  • Contact temperature monitoring (static, 8 channels)
  • Telemetry system for temperature monitoring (rotating, 16 channels)
  • Pendulum rocker for measuring residual grinding torques
  • Power take-off for static brake testing
  • Polytec PSV-500-3D-HV laser vibrometer for NVH measurements

Basic machine:

  • 3 static flywheel masses
