Mentoring Program

Starting university in general and mathematics studies in particular can often present new students with small and larger challenges. To ensure that students do not have to face these challenges alone, the Faculty of Mathematics has been offering a mentoring program for new students since 2017. An experienced student -- mentor -- is available to assist a small group of mentees and helps with navigation through university and studies. The program starts at the beginning of each academic year in the winter semester and lasts over the first semester.

Why is it worth participating in the program?

  • You are not committing to anything: The contact with the mentor is individual! You decide whether you want to meet in person (alone or in a small group) or make contact in another way.
  • It can often be difficult to navigate the jungle of formalities at university: This allows you to ask questions quickly and easily!
  • Contact with students from higher semesters brings many opportunities to benefit from their experiences. Seize your chance!
  • Getting started with mathematics is a unique experience for everyone and it can help to talk to someone who has already mastered this phase.

Winter Semester 2025/2026

The introductory event for the program will take place during orientation week on October 9, 2025 from 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.

You can already register for the program at www.tu-chemnitz.de/mathematik/mentoring/registration/ Please note that a URZ account is required for this.
