Important advice for new incoming students!!!


Registry Office

Students from EU-countries only register at the Citizens Registration Office.

The Registry Office is responsible for registration with the police authorities in Chemnitz. New international students moving to Chemnitz have to register his/ her place of residence within 14 days after his/ her arrival. After the completion of the study, international students also need to cancel their registration.

Residence Permit (application at Foreigners' Registration Office)

Appointments only by arrangement. You can post the applications or use the provided letter boxes at the Foreigner's Registration Office (please see information sheet).

The residence permit costs 110 Euro and is usually granted for one year. Foreign students have to extend it in time, which costs 80 Euro.

  • Certificate of enrolment at university
