The Federal Foreign Office and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) launched a new scholarship program for students at risk. The "Hilde Domin Program" is open to students and doctoral candidates who are in danger in their home countries and are unable to carry out or continue their studies or research locally.

The scholarship program is intended to enable threatened students and doctoral candidates who are denied the right to education in their country of origin to take up or continue their studies in Germany. The aim is for them to complete a degree or doctorate at a German university under secure conditions. The selected students and doctoral candidates are enrolled in courses of study of their choice and according to individual qualifications. They receive a scholarship that covers living expenses as well as the costs of the study or research project. In addition, all grantees can participate in an accompanying social science program to further their professional and personal development.

A selection for the nomination in the program at the DAAD is made by the Chemnitz University of Technology. After nomination by TU Chemnitz, potential candidates are invited by the DAAD to submit their application via the DAAD online portal.
