Research Interests
Neurodiversity in Softwareengineering
As a research team of four, we aim to investigate the role of human factors in software development. Our research specifically focuses on autism in the software development process.
Our team consists of Prof. Dr. Dipl.-Psych. Janet Siegmund, Prof. Dr. Sven Apel, Prof. Dr. Isabella Graßl, and Nadja/Felis Just. The perspective of software developers is central to this research. Through direct exchange, we aim to collaboratively develop an understanding of the working conditions of autistic developers that is grounded in their own experiences and can serve as a foundation for meaningful change.
This multi-stage research process begins with interviews with autistic software developers.

Mental Models of Software Developers
A mental model is an internal representation of the real world that enables individuals to anticipate the outcomes of interactions with it. In this study, we focus on the mental models software developers hold of the software systems they work on.
