New Appointment at the University

A new Junior Professor is appointed by the president as of 1 September 2019 –Dr. Thomas Laux will lead the Junior Professorship of European Cultural and Civil Society

As of 1 September 2019, Junior Professor Dr. Thomas Laux will chair the Junior Professorship of European Culture and Civil Society.

Laux will focus on teaching and research in the areas of political sociology, civil society and social movement.

About: Junior Professor Dr. Thomas Laux

Laux studied at the University of Heidelberg and the University of Mannheim and worked at Chemnitz University of Technology as a research fellow at the Professorship of General Sociology, where he focused on sociological theory. In 2016 he received a doctorate from the University of Heidelberg with a thesis of “Equality of Women in OECD Countries”, graduating summa cum laude.

After receiving his doctorate, Laux was a research fellow at the University of Bamberg, and also had a post-doctoral fellowship at the Collège d'études mondiales der Fondation Maison des sciences de l'homme in Paris.
