When Chemnitz Celebrates, the Uni is Right in the Middle

Chemnitz University presents three performances at the City Festival on August 25, 2018

From August 24 – 26, 2018, the Chemnitz city center will once again be transformed into an attraction for all ages. The 24th Chemnitz City Festival has a great deal to offer. International and national stars performing on six stages, various opportunities for hands-on participation and approximately 200 retail and culinary booths will ensure that visitors young and old will all find what they are looking for.

On Saturday, August 25, Chemnitz University of Technology will also present performances on the stage located on the market square beginning at 2 p.m. First, Vivien Kretzschmar, winner of the regional 2017 “Erzi-Star” competition will sing. She will perform pop songs in German and in English, as well as her first single: “Das ist ein Wunder”. Kretzschmar plans to begin studying Elementary School Education at Chemnitz University in 2019, after taking a gap year to do voluntary work in the social sector. Sinjini, the Chemnitz-based Indian dance group formed in 2006, will also perform on the stage. One of the dancers in the ensemble works in the University Library. The women in the group present Bollywood dances with classical and folkloristic influences. In addition, the Indian Cultural Center (ICC), a student initiative at Chemnitz University, will bring Bollywood flair to the Chemnitz market square.
