Premiere of the “International Entrepreneurship Night”

Students from all over the world present their business ideas to the public on July 6, 2016 at the TU Chemnitz and meet with entrepreneurship experts

On July 6, 2016, the first “International Entrepreneurship Night” will take place on the campus of the Technische Universität Chemnitz. The “Club der Kulturen” and the Junior Professorship for Entrepreneurship in Business Creation and Succession Management, Endowed Professorship by Sparkasse Chemnitz, invite all students to attend this event held in the club across from the Mensa beginning at 5:00pm. Admission is free and catering will be provided.

“On this evening, the Club der Kulturen will transform into a center for those interested in starting their own business, those with ideas and people of action,” says Junior Professor Dr. Mario Geißler, holder of the Endowed Professorship and continues: “Since 2014, I have regularly held seminars with international students on the topic of start-up company foundation, and they are always full. The exchange students develop exciting new business ideas in multicultural teams over a short time span. I always enjoy all of the great ideas and now I want to give the students the opportunity to present their ideas to a larger audience.” An additional highlight of the evening will be a short and entertaining lecture offered by Geißler together with Dr. Jörg Kaufmann. Kaufmann is the founder of the Chemnitz-based SILBAERG GmbH, which manufactures innovative snowboards and originated at the TU Chemnitz. He will talk about his journey to launching his own company.

“Following a very productive collaboration with the Club der Kulturen, I am really pleased that this event idea has come into existence,” says Geißler. Acting club director Konrad Cmok also sees great potential on the university campus: “At all of the events held at the Club der Kulturen, you can always get to know new students from all over the world, who have lots of great ideas. At this new event, the students can learn about startups and how to found their own company. Through the International Entrepreneurship Night, we hope to motivate students to give each other feedback, exchange ideas and arouse the courage to realize their ideas.” Matteo Zanti from Italy, who participated in the seminar “Introduction to Entrepreneurship” last year and frequently visits the Club der Kulturen, adds: “The seminar offered by the Junior Professorship for Entrepreneurship in Business Creation and Succession Management was a lot of fun for me and the other participants and awakened my entrepreneurial spirit, which I am now applying in my own project. I am happy that the other seminar participants have the chance to present their business ideas to a big audience.”

During the evening, guests can test their knowledge with the “Startup Games”, before the presentation of the students’ business ideas begins at 7:00pm. Afterwards, the audience will determine the best business ideas. Finally, the winner of the “Startup Games” will be chosen. After the event, visitors can network with one another at the bar in the relaxed atmosphere while enjoying drinks at student prices.
