Music, Dance and Style at the 20th Chemnitz City Festival

Technische Universität and the Campus Radio UNiCC enhance on August 30th and 31st, 2014 the mega-event in the city – the Future Truck invites you to participate and marvel

The City Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. Technische Universität Chemnitz joins the festivities and offers a varied program on stage this Saturday, August 30th at 2:30 p.m. located am Markt in Chemnitz. Along a fashion show, where will be presented the latest Uni-Shop collection, some of the international students are to be giving interviews. Here, students from China, India and Ukraine will enable public to approach their very personal perspective of the city of Chemnitz and the university. Then, the belly dancers of Sultan´s Delight will come with their dance interlude before the five young men from the band Jodokus will round off the program.

The young women of the belly dance group Sultan´s Delight enchant regularly with their oriental dances not only the audience, but also inspire many male viewers to demonstrate spontaneously their belly dancing skills. The idea for foundation has appeared six years ago during one of the TU Sports courses. Since then, some ladies keep their devotion to the project despite their completed degree. With their on-disputed performance, the formation has convinced the jury of the casting event called “Chemnitz sucht sein Tanztalent”, where the young dancers made it to the finals.

As often happens, the five-man band Jodokus was founded by chance. The Electromobility student of TU Chemnitz Danny Beyer and sports boarder Valentin Schulz became acquainted with each other at the car pool. Their friendship deepened by the common interest in music until they finally decided in the spring of last year to form a band. With their funny, thought-provoking lyrics and their sound that they describe as "unique blend of funk, rap and the 70ies disco", they have already cleared the first place in the Erzgebirgsbandcontest.

At the city festival jubilee, the Campusradio UNiCC offers for the first time this year their own stage in the Stadthallenpark with a special schedule tailored for young people. It starts on Saturday at 11 a.m. with a varied program which, besides the lotteries and musical performances, also organizes a dance performance by Jumpcrew Nischelhupper, as well as a children`s dance project. At 1:30 p.m. four regional young bands will pass every hour the mic to each other, before DJane Audiocoma with her offer of electronic music will bring the musical performances to a conclusion. All those, who cannot be present in Chemnitz on this day, will have an opportunity to track the whole thing via a live stream: http://www.radio-unicc.de/typo3/index.php?id=133

In addition, the "Future Truck" of TU Chemnitz which is parked in front of the RAWEMA building on August 30th and 31th 2014, between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. respectively, opens its doors and invites everyone to join in and be amazed, in particular those, who would like to be enthused by science and technology.
