"Seasonal Schools" of the Across University Alliance Offer International Exchange for Students in the Fields of Linguistics, Neurorobotics and Plastics Processing

Applications for the Summer School in the Field of "Plastic Processing" can be submitted until September 10, 2022 – Those interested in the Summer Schools "Bilingualism and Multilingualism" and Neurorobotics can request places from professors

Every year, the Across University Alliance offers a wide range of services for students at partner universities during their academic summer break. Also, this year there are three events to choose from. These include the summer schools "Bilingualism and Multilingualism", "Neurorobotics" and "Plastic Processing".

The Summer School "Bilingualism and Multilingualism" as well as "Neurorobotics" are already fully booked, but those interested can inquire about vacant places with the teachers. An application for the Summer School Plastic Processing is still possible until September 10, 2022 by e-mail to katharina.goetz@mb.tu-chemnitz.de. Katharina Götze from the Cluster of Excellence MERGE at Chemnitz University of Technology will answer further questions.

The Summer School Bilingualism and Multilingualism takes place from 12. September 2022 in the "Alte Heizhaus" in the courtyard of the Böttcher-Bau at the location Straße der Nationen 62 in Chemnitz. This summer school is organized by Dr. Greta Mazzaggio (University of Nova Gorica/Slovenia) and her colleagues from Udine (Italy) and Rezekne (Letttland). It is aimed in particular at students who are interested in the field of linguistics with a focus on bilingualism, multilingualism and second language acquisition. In addition, focal points in connection with the topics "cultural heritage and minority languages" are dealt with. This summer school offers a comprehensive and interdisciplinary learning experience on various aspects of multilingualism, which is facilitated by the international nature of the event.

The "Summer School Neurorobotics" will take place from 26 until 30 September 2022 at the location Straße der Nationen 62 in Chemnitz. Florian Röhrbein, Professor of Neurorobotics at Chemnitz University of Technology, and Prof. Michael Kuciej from Bialystok University of Technology (Poland) organized. It is aimed at all students interested in science and research at the interface of computational neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and robotics. The topic of "robotics" with a focus on the latest simulation platforms will play an important role. In addition, practical sessions will focus on programming neurorobotics experiments to investigate the interaction between brain, body, and environment in closed loops of perception and action.

The "Summer School Plastics Processing" will take place in Chemnitz from 26 to 30 September 2022. Researchers Tomasz Osiecki and Sebastian Buschbeck from Chemnitz University of Technology and Dr. Marek Jałbrzykowski organized by the Bialystok University of Technology. The event is aimed at all students with an enthusiasm for the key technology "lightweight construction", especially in the field of plastics processing. The venue will be announced later. Lectures will cover all relevant aspects, with a focus on the latest developments in injection molding. As part of internships in the Cluster of Excellence MERGE at Chemnitz University of Technology and in the state-of-the-art MERGE laboratories, the participants will devote themselves to fundamental questions of thermoplastic processing, from compounding to the production of a complex lightweight component. In addition, the participants get to know practical aspects of polymer processes.
