New Appointment at the University

As of June 1, 2022, a professor was newly appointed to Chemnitz University of Technology by the president - Prof. Dr. Michael Mayer now heads the professorship Organization and International Management.

As of June 1, 2022, Prof. Dr. Michael Mayer has been appointed to the Professorship of Organization and International Management at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Chemnitz University of Technology. The formal appointment by the President of Chemnitz University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Gerd Strohmeier, will take place at a later date.

Professor Mayer's research focuses, among other things, on the interplay between the strategic development and organization of companies and the role of social, psychological and economic factors in their environment. In this context, he is particularly interested in diversification strategies and international management.

About the person: Prof. Dr. Michael Mayer

Prof. Dr. Michael Mayer will hold the Professorship of Organization and International Management at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Chemnitz University of Technology from June 1, 2022. Most recently, he was Professor of Strategic Management at the University of Bath in the UK, where he headed the Department of Strategy and Organization and was responsible for the Master's programs as Dean of Studies.

Mayer graduated from the University of Augsburg in 1990 with a degree in economics. He then studied International Studies at the University of Warwick in the UK. From 1995 to 2003 he was a lecturer and senior lecturer at the University of Glasgow (UK). In 1999 he received his PhD in the field of Industrial and Business Studies from the University of Warwick. From 2003 to 2006 he was a reader at the University of Edinburgh (UK), where he also led the PhD program.
