More Sustainability Through Lightweight Construction Technologies

Cluster of Excellence MERGE invites you to the 5th International MERGE Technologies Conference in hybrid format on December 1 and 2, 2021 - Call for Papers and Posters open until June 30

Lightweight construction aims to save weight as well as increase resource efficiency. It thus makes an important contribution to reconciling ecology and economy - and thus to climate protection. For example, by reducing material and mass, a reduction in CO2 emissions can also be achieved.

The 5th International MERGE Technologies Conference (IMTC) provides a platform for international and interdisciplinary exchange. The IMTC (https://www.tu-chemnitz.de/tu/pressestelle/aktuell/9663/en), hosted by the Cluster of Excellence MERGE at Chemnitz University of Technology, is entitled "Sustainability Through Lightweight Technologies." The conference will take place on December 1 and 2, 2021.

As part of the Call for Papers or Posters, interested parties from science, business, and industry are invited to submit abstracts for posters and presentations by June 30, 2021, and thus help shape the conference program. A technical committee will select the Best Paper and Best Poster, which will be presented at the evening event on December 1. More information on the Call for Papers and Posters is available online.

Due to the Corona pandemic, the IMTC is offered as a hybrid event. Thus, both national and international guests should be able to participate without having to travel to the event. For this purpose, corresponding digital and presence formats are planned. Online registration is possible until October 31, 2021.

Focus on Circular Economy and Sustainability

Current trends and developments in the lightweight construction sector will be addressed in the diverse conference program and discussed by the participating representatives from science and industry. The conference will focus on materials and composite structures, manufacturing technologies, modeling and simulation, smart systems, and other applications for the production of lightweight structures in large series. A special feature this year: the special session "Circular Economy and the Carbon Footprint." Against the backdrop of the conference's focus on sustainability, this session will shed light on the challenges and potential of the circular economy, pay special attention to the future task of climate protection and address, among other things, the recycling of components, upcycling technologies and strategies for the production of climate-neutral materials.
