2D materials

  Research topics [Complex materials]

Graphene, an atomically thin sheet of sp2-hybridized carbon atoms, has attracted enormous attention in the scientific community in recent years. Due to their unique mechanical, thermal, optical, and especially electrical properties, this class of material has aroused immense scientific interest from many disciplines. Recently, with the introduction of other 2D materials, like silicene, MoS2, h-BN, etc., this material family has been further expanded. The combination of different 2D systems with specific chemical modification enables us to realize novel solid-state structures with partly new properties.
