About us

Political Science at Technische Universität Chemnitz looks back on a young history of successful teaching and research. After the democratization of East Germany the Institute of Political Science was established in 1993. With five professorships it represents the complete spectrum of the discipline: Political Theory and History of Ideas, Political Systems, International Relations, European Comparative Government, and Political Science Research Methods. Thus, with its BA and MA programs the institute enables both a practical and research-based education. Its scientific activities focus on central issues related to the research areas of the professorships, placing emphasis on the transfer of knowledge between science and society.
