INNOVATE: Innovations to promote policy-practice Dialog on Migration
What it is about
Over the past years numerous research projects have been implemented addressing topics of refuge, migration and integration. In close cooperations with practitioners and political decision-makers, an extensive body of knowledge has been gained through these projects and was disseminated to the public using many different formats of communication. Especially in highly politicized topics such as migration, this scientifically information can help to strengthen evidence based political decision making.
However, the questions remain to what extent this knowledge can be better transferred to political decision-making processes and incorporated into the public debate in future? And which formats are suitable to improve the dialog between science, politics, practice?
What we are working on
A key aspect of the project is the development of a central knowledge, dialogue and learning platform: Migration-Research-To-Policy CoLab.
This platform will bundle knowledge (Research Exchange), provide tools for cooperation between stakeholders (Engagement Hub) and will become a place for mutual learning (Training).
Case study: Saxony
The local case study of the Innovate Team at TU Chemnitz / Chair of Human Geography takes place in 2025.
The case studies (process innovation actions) test and implement innovate forms of engagement and the communication of scientific findings and the dialog within in case studies. New insights in terms of multi stakeholder dialogue as well as the dissemination and implementation of knowledge as a source for political decision making gained in this process will then be incorporated into the further development of the Migration-Research-To-Policy CoLab.
