Microfluidics
Content
Microfluidic technology is concerned with the transport of liquids and gases on small scales. The Microfluidic Mechanics moves physically on the border line between a continuum and particulate fluids (molecules). The aim of the course is the introduction to the basics of microfluidic technology.
- Intoduction
- Selected fundamental concepts and definitions of fluid mechanics
- Capillarity and Interface Effects
- Micro Streaming
Teaching Plan
The lecture and exercises will be held in every winter semester. The lectures and exercises are organized in:
- Lecture: 2 hours per week in the semester
- Exercise: an hour per week in the semester
OPAL-System
Mikrofluidtechnik
Mastery Goals
The aim of the module is to apply the basic theoretical knowledge, to deepen the understanding of detailed questions and to consolidate the ability to independently analyse issues in microfluidics technology.
Admission Requirements
None but a rudimentary knowledge of fluid mechanics is recommendable.
Exam
The course is passed if students attend at the final oral exam successfully
