Shortprofile

We develop and analyze approaches for solving inverse problems, especially in the field of image processing. Specific applications of this can be found, for example, in materials science or medical image processing. Due to improved hardware and the availability of large data sets, there has been a rapid development towards data-based reconstruction methods. These can be used to achieve impressive reconstructions in applications that were previously considered extremely difficult. However, many of these methods lack a theoretical understanding, which means that they are not yet suitable for critical applications, for example in hospitals. This is where some of our current projects come in. In addition to these questions, we are concentrating on the related fields of mathematical image processing, (convex) optimization and the theory of neural networks.
