  • Flashy colours!
  • Scrolling text
  • Blinking fonts
  • or animated images A flashing animated image
  • Mixing too many different fonts and font sizes, colours and backgrounds
Example of a bad design: Mixing different fonts and font sizes, colours and backgrounds

Please note the following aspects

  • Use predefined formats in the Corporate Design of the TU
  • Avoid copy&paste from Office programmes to avoid unnecessarily generated HTML code:
    • If possible, the text should be inserted as plain text (using the key combination Ctrl+Shift+V)
    • Text is formatted in the HTML editor afterwards
  • Remember that your website should be easily readable on all devices and printed on paper by as many people as possible
    – Consider aspects of „Responsive Design“: Adapt the content to the available resolution of the device
  • Images:
    • Scale images, especially photos, to the right size – consider e. g. loading times or unwanted high-resolution portrait photos
    • Responsive Design: use the „img-responsive“ CSS class
    • Pay attention to copyrights, a copyright notice can also be included for page images
  • Essential functions should be accessible without Javascript – no Flash, no Java, no plug-ins
