We live in a world that is increasingly interconnected through diversity, mobility, and digital communication. Transnational relationships shape our everyday lives, and cultural and social contexts are constantly changing. These dynamics raise important questions:

How can we understand ‘culture(s)’ today? How do cross-border practices influence our identities, our coexistence, and our communication?

We address these and other socially relevant questions in our research and teaching with scientific curiosity. We do not view culture as a fixed system, but as something changeable that is constantly being reshaped through exchange, negotiation, and power relations. Central themes of our work include:

Cultures and culturalization
Digitality and digital cultures
Intersectionality and diversity
Migration and mobility
Postcolonial and decolonial perspectives
Epistemic justice

In our degree programs—the ► Bachelor's in Intercultural Communication and the ► Master's in Intercultural Communication / Intercultural Competence—we place great emphasis on the connection between theory, research, and practice. Our courses are interdisciplinary and offer space for critical reflection, empirical research, and personal learning experiences. The programs prepare students for a wide range of ► careers and fields of work.

We are particularly committed to promoting international experience, for example through stays abroad or practical phases, which are closely linked to academic discourse. We cordially invite you to join us in questioning current social developments, exploring intercultural phenomena, and participating in an open, diverse academic environment.

We look forward to interacting with you—in your studies, in research, and beyond.
