CHIM - Research Network Chemnitz-Ilmenau-Magdeburg

The tri-university network strengthens the cooperation between the three locations in Chemnitz, Ilmenau and Magdeburg - there is cross-university cooperation in the areas of research and teaching.

Research together

  • Research projects in which 2 or 3 CHIM universities are involved, including projects funded by the BMBF or DFG
  • This also includes joint publications or publications independent of projects
  • long-term cooperation, primarily in the area of people and technology
  • Strengthening the infrastructure, for example by establishing open labs, which enable all CHIM members to carry out joint investigations at one location

Drive Innovation

  • Future-oriented projects, jointly organized events and participation in conferences on topics that revolutionize the future of people and technology, joint teaching, for example in the form of a lecture series
  • In addition to research and teaching, the focus in the future will also be on the development of common university policy positions and goals

Symposium: Productive Teaming

Current technological developments enable highly complex, intelligent, adaptable and autonomous cybertechnical systems that can support, complement and exceed human cognitive abilities and skills in solving the new challenges of tomorrow. This constant development of ever more powerful and intelligent technologies is currently leading to new and complex challenges in dynamic production systems that must be overcome quickly and consistently. A key challenge in the field of production systems in the future will be to solve highly complex problems with countless parameters that far exceed the capacities of gaps and conventional human teams. In order to solve these problems and increase productivity, it is therefore imperative to form teams of people and production systems that are specialized in such "teaming" between people and production systems. "Productive Teaming" is a joint research initiative of Chemnitz University of Technology, Ilmenau University of Technology and OVGU Magdeburg, which emerged from the existing research and innovation network "CHIM". The aim of this initiative is to use overarching topics to better understand teaming between human and artificial agents and, among other things, to answer the following research question: Can intelligent systems be cognitively enhanced so that they are able to
