Electric vehicles

 

Description

Various real-life driving studies are carried out at our department to investigate user experience and behaviour with electric vehicles. We have a BWM i3 and two Smart ED for two at our disposal. Research questions addressed in our studies deal, among other things, with experienced range stress, energy-efficient driving behaviour and the evaluation of range displays in electric vehicles.

Application

In the field of emobility and transport research, our vehicles are used for field experiments and driving studies. The Smart EDs are also part of a multimodal sharing system with connection to public transport and electric bicycles. In addition to studies specific to electric vehicles, research can also be conducted on automated driving, the handling of secondary tasks and distractions.
