Welcome to Master Automation, Robotics and Control programme at Technische Universität Chemnitz. This English-language programme is focused on the fields of automation, control, and robotics combining theoretical foundations with hands-on experience. In practice-oriented project groups, students with different backgrounds are trained to work together on complex tasks. In addition to solid technical training, international students in the programme also acquire extensive German skills (minimum level for graduation: B2) while German-speaking students consolidate their subject-specific English knowledge. Moreover, a series of seminars within the project groups offers the opportunity to deepen soft skills such as ethics, academic/scientific work, and human-technology interaction. This opens excellent prospects both on the German and the international job market, as well as for an academic career.
You have a bachelor's degree in
- Electrical/Mechanical Engineering

The basic modules (compulsory subjects) are in particular:
- Mathematics for Engineering Science
- Advanced Linear Control
- Learning Dynamical Systems
- Autonomous Systems
- Robots, Modeling and Control
Starting in the second semester students can select specialization modules depending on their personal interests in the fields of automation, robotics and control. There are also supplementary modules in mathematics, electrical engineering and computer science. For a complete list of all modules to choose from and which ones are mandatory, see the study regulations. Additionally students who do not have the relevant language skills must also take German courses (minimum level for graduation: B2).
To gain experience in working indepently on a research topic there are compulsory project groups in the second or third semester.
