New Appointment to the University

On 1 August 2020, a new professor was appointed at Chemnitz University of Technology – Prof. Dr. Philipp Reiter is now head of the Harmonic Analysis professorship

On 1 August 2020, Prof. Dr. Philipp Reiter was appointed to the Professorship of Harmonic Analysis at the Faculty of Mathematics at Chemnitz University of Technology. The formal appointment by the President of Chemnitz University of Technology, Prof. Dr. Gerd Strohmeier, will be made at a later date due to the current situation at the university.
In the future, Reiter will be particularly concerned with questions of shape optimization and modeling of self-contact of geometric objects such as curves or surfaces. Applications will be found in the field of mechanics. "I am very happy for the opportunity to work at the Chemnitz University of Technology and am looking forward to the many new challenges. In particular I would like to try out innovative teaching formats."

About Prof. Dr. Philipp Reiter
Philipp Reiter studied mathematics with a minor in economics at the University of Bonn. Since 2004, he worked as a research assistant at RWTH Aachen University, where he received his doctorate in 2009. He then did postdoctoral research, first at the University of Freiburg i. Br. and then at the University of Duisburg-Essen. During this time Reiter held a professorship as acting professor in Heidelberg from 2016 to 2017. From 2017 to 2019 he worked as a postdoc at the University of Georgia (USA). From April 2019 he was employed as a research assistant at the University of Halle-Wittenberg before being appointed at Chemnitz University of Technology.
