There are more than 420 institutions of higher education in Germany. But which universities and technical colleges provide students with the best practice? Are graduates from the private institutions of higher education in the greater demand? What skills of graduates are of a particular importance? What qualifications are relevant for the employment? These and other questions answer 571 personnel managers of small business and large corporations for the current university ranking of `WirtschaftsWoche´. It was developed by the consulting firm Universum and the outsourcing and consulting group KellyOCG. The results were published in the 26th issue of the `WirtschaftsWoche´ on June 23rd, 2014 in its cover story „Studieren mit Jobgarantie“.

Technische Universität Chemnitz managed to be ranked in two of the business-related fields of studies among the top 10 universities in Germany. In Business Information Systems, TU Chemnitz has reached place 6, and in the Computer Science place 10. In both fields, Technische Universität Chemnitz has made a great leap forward over the past few months. „Our University has climbed 10 places up in Business Information Systems, and in Computer Science even 13 places up,“ says Prof. Dr. Christoph Fasbender, Vice-Rector for Teaching and Learning at TU Chemnitz. This shows that TU Chemnitz prepares its graduates each time better for the transition into the labor market. „The practical alignment of our staff and close cooperation with economy, ranging from research projects, endowed professorships or Germany Scholarships and professional alliances, as well as support of the graduate works by the companies, show how practical experiences are lived and mediated at TU Chemnitz,“ said Fasbender.

By the way: In the winter semester 2014/2015 TU Chemnitz will offer some new courses to expand the list of Master`s degree programs in the field of Computer Science. These include such courses as `Business Intelligence & Analytics´ and `Applied Computer Science´. Besides, there is a new Bachelor`s degree program called `Informatik und Kommunikationswissenschaften´.
