European Competition of Start-up Ideas

Doctoral students from 12 European universities can compete in the Cross-Border Doc-torials in a competition of the best start-up ideas. As a reward, prize money awaits the three best teams.

In the European workshop and ideas competition "Cross-Border Doctorials" organised by the Collège Docotoral Languedoc-Roussillon from 5 to 10 July, doctoral students from a total of twelve participating European universities can take part – including doctoral students from Chemnitz University of Technology. They will develop their own start-up ideas in international teams of about eight people and will be supported by international coaches. Parallel to the work on their own project, a comprehensive accompanying programme will be offered of workshops and conference presentations on the topic of start-ups. A formal closing event will take place on 10 July, during which prize money will be awarded to the three best teams – €300 per person for first place and €200 and €100 for second and third place respectively. Every doctoral student at Chemnitz University of Technology can take part. It is worth being quick though, as the places for participants from Chemnitz University of Technology are limited to 8 persons – registration is possible via e-mail to the IUZ until 19 May: iuz@tu-chemnitz.de

Chemnitz University of Technology is also involved in delivering the programme of the event: For example, Tina Schwarz and Richard Holzerland from the start-up network SAXEED will be available as coaches for an international team and will contribute their experience from advising start-ups. As part of the accompanying conference, Prof. Dr. Martin Gaedke (Chair of Distributed and Self-Organising Systems) will give a lecture on "Leadership and Agile Methods" on the first day of the event.

This year's Cross-Border Doctorials will take place as an online event due to the Corona pandemic.
