The Interdisciplinary Symposium ISINA 2019 was opened with a presentation by Petronela Sandulache, Global Innovation Strategist and Ventures Designer, on the topic of: “21st century our turning point. Women leaders unit!“

The Networking-Café allowed the participants to not only get small refreshments but also to engage in intense expert discussions and exchange on advice for a promising scientific career.

The contest for the “ISINA Best-Poster-Award“ was once again a highlight of this year's symposium. During the poster sessions, participants of the contest had the opportunity to present their scientific work in a comprehensible way of their objects of research of their bachelor, master or doctoral thesis.

The audience anxiously awaited the award ceremony in the evening of the first day of the symposium. Monique Meuschke (1st place), Elzbieta Stepula (2nd place) and Charlotte Steiniger (3rd place) were the winners of the “ISINA Best-Poster-Award".

During the Speed Dating Events, the sponsors BASELABS GmbH, H&T Produktions Technologie GmbH as well as the Cluster of Excellence MERGE of the TU Chemnitz gave an insight into their current research and field of activity.

During two of the ISINA days, participants were able to talk to employees of companies that were directly on sight and were able to receive first-hand information about those companies.

Seven interdisciplinary specialist lectures brought new findings in science and research to the female participants in English and German. Afterwards, the soft-skill workshop on the topic on "The Voice as a Tool", "Design Thinking", "Strengthen Confidence" and"Academic Publishing" encouraged an interactive personal growth of the female researchers.

The last programme items of the convention focused on young female researchers in Saxony. For the sixth consecutive time, female students of grades 11 and 12 were awarded the "BeLL-Prix“award for their "special learning performances" in the subjects Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science.

Leibniz-Award winner Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Marion Merklein from the University Erlangen-Nürnberg held the opening presentation in the Fraunhofer Institut IWU.

High spirits and good talks were again main components on the itinerary of the symposium, next to the specialist lectures and workshops.

The female participants seemed to have had much fun during the different interactive workshops.

Besides workshops, female participants were also able to attend different specialists lectures in English and German.

During the evening event in the Alten Heizhaus of the TU Chemnitz, the ISINA Best-Poster-Award was again awarded to the three best participants who presented their highly exciting research topics beforehand.

After the awarding of the Best-Poster-Award, the focus of the evening was shifted to the networking aspect of the symposium for the (junior) female scientist.

On the second day of the event, the BeLL-Prix award for individual learning performances was awarded to young female scientists of the 12 grade for the fifth consecutive year. The picture shows this year second place participant Isabell Hentschel, who is presenting how she researched on released methane gas of eutrophic shallow waters.

The team of the Centre for Equal Opportunities in Science and Research at the TU Chemnitz thanks all participants for the successful ISINA 2018 and is looking forward to next years symposium. Save the date: 25 to 26. March 2019!

The lecture on "Flexible Tools- and Technology-concepts for Sheet Metal Forming” by Dr.-Ing. habil. Verena Kräusel“, head of the area for teaching and learning of deformation and joining at the Chemnitz University of Technology, opened the interdisciplinary symposium ISINA 2017.

Five soft-skill workshops offered not only inspiration for personal development and growth but also allowed female participants to network and exchange ideas and impressions of the nine different specialists lectures that were held afterwards. The main focus of this interdisciplinary symposium was on the professional exchange between the female participants. During coffee breaks which also included pastries, participants had the opportunity to let their creativity unfold and discuss innovation potentials in interdisciplinary fields of research.

Within the framework programme of the symposium, the DFG-Research Association of the TU Chemnitz introduced themselves. Among others, Christian Wagner talked about the current research being done in the research group FOR 1713.

Awarded again this year was the ISINA Best-Poster-Award: f.l.t.r. Dipl.-Ing. Annett Schmieder (3rd place), Dr.rer.nat. Marion Schneider (1st place), Dr.-Ing. Nora Brachhold (2nd place).

A highlight of this years symposium was the evening function at the art collection of Chemnitz. This location also offered the winners of the BeLL-Prix 2017 to present their special learning projects, and the evening was rounded off by the magic tricks of Tim Stüdemann.

The young female junior scientists used the evening function to network with experts from the field of science as well as female executives. Questions the female participants had were answered amongst others, by the jury of the BeLL-Prix and also advice shared for their possible future scientific careers.

This year's interdisciplinary symposium for female engineers and scientists was started off with a presentation on "Software Qualität ist wie Schönheit!" by Prof. Sabine Wieland, chairwomen of the Leipziger STEM-Network and professor of the year 2015 in the field of engineering sciences/computer sciences,

During the overall eight interdisciplinary specialist presentations, the participants were not only able to gain more knowledge but were also able to engage in conversations with each other and network.

The Symposium ISINA was complemented by presentations of the DFG- Research Association of the TU Chemnitz as well as of the Fraunhofer IWU and ENAS.

Three Soft Skill Workshops rounded off the two-day event with impulses for self-improvement. The workshops were concerned with topics such as "Intercultural leadership and intercultural communication" which was led by M.A. Lena Haubold (f.p.r.) and discussed thoroughly in the group.

A highlight of this symposium was the first-ever awarding of the nationwide held competition ISINA "Best-Poster-Award". In the category's bachelors, masters and doctoral thesis, participants sent in their posters and the best posters were then premiered at the ISINA symposium.: f.l.t.r. Dhara Bhavsar, Nicole Köhler (Winner/Diploma), Lara-Sophie Dey (Winner/Bachelor), Melinda Hartwig (Winner/Doctorate), Andrea Preuß, Dana Weise.

This years networking cafe again proved is usefulness for intense conversations about the new scientific results and discoveries, future developments of scientific fields and advice on creating a successful scientific career.

Dr Valeska Russo gave the participants an insight into the basics of the project in her soft skill workshops and encourage all participants to engage in group discussions.

Young promising scientists anxiously wait for the BeLL-Prix Award Ceremony 2016 to commence. In advance to this award ceremony, participants were asked to hand in individual assignments in either the subjects of Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Computer Science. The beautiful ambience Gunzenhauser-Museums, participants were able to network with experienced researchers and scientists as well as commence the paving of their scientific careers. To round of the evening dancers, of the group "Inergi"performed a choreography of their Indian folklore as well as a tour was given of the Ernst-Häckel-Ausstellung.

The opening presentation "Der feminine Anteil der Wissenschaft“ was held by Dr Christiane Gottschalk, who ist he CTO of ASTeX GmbH Berlin and ist he curator of the Fraunhofer Institute ENAS.

Every female participant received a lime green ISINA-Bag which contained the essential information to the symposium.

Ten interdisciplinary specialist presentations, here shown, is Dipl.-Ing. Alexandra Dunz of the Hochschule für angewandte Wissenschaften Würzburg-Schweinfurt builds the field-specific part of ISINA.

The programme was rounded off by four workshops, here shown is Silke Meyer of emotions and business, in which participants were able to work on their soft skills.

Time and space for an intense conversation with coffee and fruits were given in the Pausencafe between the events of the programme.

The networking lounge had representatives of research associations, MERGE as well as from Fraunhofer Institute IWU and ENAS. This allowed the participants to network and take part in presentations showing their current work at the TU Chemnitz.

The highlight of the event was the evening programme which was hosted in the Sächsischen Museum für Archäologie Chemnitz (SMAC). On the evening's agenda was the BeLL-Prix Award Ceremony, a networking-buffet and a podium discussion.

Winner, of the BeLL-Prix Award, received cash and prizes which were given to them by Prof. Olfa Kanoun. She is the head of the professorship of Electrical Measurements and Sensor Technology. The awards were also received from Prof. Heinrich Lang, Prorector for Junior Researchers at the TU Chemnitz and had the opportunity to afterwards present their work in the form of a short presentation.

Twenty-one specialist presentations, as well as lectures, captivated the participants of the ISINA-Symposium. In the picture, you can see Anke Unger during her performance on the 3^rd of April 2014.

During the programme, participants were also able to network with each other. The evening event took place in the Kunstsammlung Chemnitz.

The symposium came to an end with a podium discussion on the topic of "Karrierepusher und Karrierekiller“ with Prof. Birgit Spanner-Ulmer, Prof. Margit Zacharias, Janet Schaer, Prof. Regina Fischer and Dr Micaela Schönherr. (f.l.t.r.)
